Rightsizing the concurrent joba for a repository

Post by marius roma »

I need to detect the right number o concurrent jobs for a NAS (HP StoreOnce) accesssed via a 10Gb network connection.
Given that replica jobs copy from backup, if the number of running replica jobs excedes the maximum number of concurrent jobs backup jobs don't start.
My initial setting was 8, now I increased it to 16, 32 would be fine.
Is there a way to define the right number of concurrent jobs without decreasing performance?
Season's greetings

Hi Mario,
this paper has been developed for VBR v8, but it's still relevant in my opinion:

Have a look.

We run now B&R 9.0 and StoreOnce 3540 runs SW version 3.14.

Basically, this setting should be configured to a value that allows to keep the overall number of concurrent streams to StoreOnce below the supported maximum, which is 192 for your 3540. Veeam B&R v9.5 is able to control this internally, so this setting is not that important (can be disabled).
