Backup 2012R2 Core

Post by costasppc »

Hello and a Happy New Year!

I need to install the free edition in 2 servers: A. One 2012 R2 full with the HyperV role and an 2012 R2 Core server. Is the core edition supported? Sorry if it is mentioned before, if its somewhere in the guide, please point me to.

Best regards

Kostas

Kostas,

Core edition is not supported for Backup free edition. It requires windows components that are not supported on that edition

Thank you,

Is it supported in the paid version? And I guess we cannot use the free edition installed in the GUI 2012R2 to backup the core's VMs?

Best regards

No, Windows Server core edition is not supported as a platform for Veeam Backup and Replication server installation due the ‘software limitations’ of the core edition.

It should be possible to back up a core VM
