Security of aplication

Post by ali.k »

Hello,
I had a question regarding security. Anyone who has access at the server can start the Veem Backup for Office 365. When anyone open backup from repository so can read, restore items and etc.(except for the recovery items to the mailbox where is a admin password required). These operations are not logged, will that? Alernatively will not need
some admin credentials to login to the BO365 application?
Thank you very much,
Aleš

Hi Ales,

The user that logs on needs to have administrator credentials to the box that is running VBO. So only RDP rights will not be enough.
The operations are logged in log files. Those specifically for the explorer are located under C:\programdata\Veeam\Backup\ExchangeExplorer\Logs.
Last (but not least), you cannot restore an item to O365 mailbox without knowing the user that is used as impersonation user

But you are right that on the logging / reporting side we can do some work, and this is being discussed to see where we will place those

Hope it helps
Mike
