Veem Win/Lnx Agent: some questions?

Post by biapar »

Hi,

I wish to try and suggest Win/Lnx Agent to backup data from storage and so to have an only product that is Veeam. We already use B&R Essential Enterprise.

- Are the agent like backup exec agent? That is: Do they backup files, folder, and so on phisical hardware and not only a full backup of virtual machine?
- Do they work stand alone or they need the Veeam Backup and Replication?
- Do they work with B&R free version, too?
- Is't possible to send data on the cloud or to remote server?
- When Will be available the stable Windows agent?

Thank you

Hi biapar,
- Are the agent like backup exec agent? That is: Do they backup files, folder, and so on phisical hardware and not only a full backup of virtual machine?
Veeam Agent for Windows is designed for physical desktops, servers and virtual machines Veeam Backup and Replication can’t protect.
- Do they work stand alone or they need the Veeam Backup and Replication?
Both scenarios are supported. You can run VAW in a standalone mode or you can target you backup job directly to Veeam Backup & Replication or Veeam Cloud Connect repository
- Do they work with B&R free version, too?
You should have a licensed VBR to create repository (or you can deploy a VAW license to the VBR FREE console).
- Is't possible to send data on the cloud or to remote server?
Yes
- When Will be available the stable Windows agent?
At the end of Q1

My two cents plus tax:
- Is't possible to send data on the cloud or to remote server?
Yes, you can send data to a remote server, however current version of VAL does not support direct backup to cloud. You can use VBR Backup Copy Job as a workaround.

Thank you.

Other questions:
- Is't possible to recovery single file/folder?
- Is't possible full and incremental backup?

- Is't possible to recovery single file/folder?
Sure. File level recovery is supported
- Is't possible full and incremental backup?
Yes. That's the default backup approach
