GFS where do I put my 7 days?

Post by ArcaneGlyph »

I am trying to figure out how the GFS structure works I want a 7 day, 4 week, 3 month, 4 quarter, 1 year schema.

I am trying to figure out how many restore points I need to keep. My gut tells me I need 1, but I want to confirm.

Thanks All.

Hi,
I am trying to figure out how the GFS structure works I want a 7 day, 4 week, 3 month, 4 quarter, 1 year schema.
If you going to set up GFS like this, you will have restore points for 7 past days + last 4 weekly full + 3 monthly full + 4 quarter full backups and 1 yearly. Also remember that weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly could be the same file if they scheduled on the same day of the week.

Maybe it will be helpful for you to plan storage capacity by using this Restore point simulator.

According to your scheme, you need 7 days retention, BCJ interval set to daily and enabled GFS (4 weekly, 3 monthly, 4 quarterly and 1 yearly).

Thanks!
