Backup Windows Linux version compatible?

Post by Hallo32 »

Hi,

is it possible to create the backups with the Veeam Agent for Windows and restore them with the Veeam Agent for Linux?

Is the other way around possible, backup with the Linux version and restore with the Windows version?

Hi,

No, that's not possible. Why would you want to do that?

Hi,

the use case would be:

1) Using the Windows version to create backups.
2) Using the Linux version as bootable recovery solution through pxe for the recovery.

2) Why can't you just do the same thing with Windows Endpoint recovery media? Is that for purpose of automated restores?

With the linux based one I can simple use an existing infrastructure.

The lan card support out of the box seems to be much better with recent kernel version compared to the windows version.
Sure, it is possible to add drivers to the wim file but it is not the preferred method.

When creating the recovery iso you can add the correct drivers already so that shouldn't be an issue.
