Cluster Upgrade

Post by jamie2497 »

Hi Guys,

What is the supported method for adding jobs back into VEEAM without it doing a full backup after doing a 2008 R2 to 2012 R2 Hyper-v failover cluster upgrade?

Just remove the old hosts / Cluster, add the new one and then edit the jobs with the same VMs? Will the backups need remapping?

Will be migrating using the Failover Clustering Cluster Migration Wizard.

Cheers

Hi,

Unfortunately there is no way how you could migrate Hyper-V cluster to another set of hosts and get incremental backup because of two reasons:

- changed block tracking data is not migrated
- not only VM ID is used by Veeam to identify a VM to backup, but also host ID is used. New host = new ID

Thank you
