Backup Repository in two Backup Servers

Post by dcampregher »

Hello,

Is possible to configure one Big Windows Server ( a lot of CP, RAM, Disk and etc ... ) to interact with 02 different Backup Servers ? For example: In the organization group we have two companies that have different services, so they need two backup servers but want to use only one Repository Server.

Hi Diogo,

Your scenario is possible but there are a few things you need to keep into consideration:

1. Both B&R servers will always need to be at the same level. For example, if one is v9.5 and the other gets upgraded to 9.5 Update 1 then the components on the repository server will also be upgraded and probably the non-updated one won't be able to use that repository
2. The two B&R servers won't be "aware" of each other, which means your repository server might suffer from combined ingestion and therefore not able to perform (although you stated that you will give it lots of resources, it is still something to keep an eye on). The job of VBR 1 won't know that there is a job of VBR 2 and maybe they will try to steal each too much resources

Hope it helps
Mike
