Hi, we are currently using v9 replication for a SQL server with multiple drives.
When replication takes place however, there is a disk for SQL backups that is almost always empty (and confirmed to have no data on it at the time the replication started) but the Veeam console states that a few gigs of data from that drive is being replicated? This is causing the replication to exceed its allocated time and causing issues
Why would the replication job see data on the drive when there is none?

Re: Replication picking up data that's not there
It would see block changes in the vDisc and thusly replicate them.
Do you need the disc on the replication target? You could consider excluding it from the replication.

Re: Replication picking up data that's not there
Hi,
As Steven has already pointed out, Veeam treats changed blocks like if they contained data, no matter if there are actual files there. The fact that there are no files on the drive does not mean that blocks do not change, I'd check for background processes that could change blocks on the drive (e.g. defragmentation).
Thank you.

Are you sure there is no 'invisible' data like
- VSS snapshots of other disks or SQL database
- Windows page file
- system files
Try changing view options for the drive, to see hidden & system files
