Feature request - Failover plan for instant recovey

Post by larry »

Veeam failover plan using instant recovery form san snap shots the same way as for replicas. I would like to create groups of VMs mapped to a ESX server. Three groups three ESX servers.

1.Launch the New Failover Plan wizard
2.Specify a failover plan name and description
3.Select VMs – option to connect nic would be nice but not necessity.
4.Set time delay
5.start next failover group
6 review.

With instant recovery from Veeam controlled san snapshots being, well instant, I no longer keep replicas. San snap shots take way less space and allow much better rto/rpo. I would like to have a preconfigured (VM to ESX host) mapping. This mapping will be tested for resource utilization by us. I would use mainly for DR, both real and testing.

But what about the script you've been working on recently? Have you encountered any obstacles while trying to script everything?

No obstacles just time. it looks like it will work, got all the blocks working. Still need to finish it but much prefer Veeam maintained it than me. Did do enough to see Veeam has all the pieces already to make it work.

Got it. Consider your voice counted. However, we cannot say anything definitive at the moment regarding when (or whether) this feature would be implemented. Typically features get prioritized based on the demand coming from our end-users. Thanks.
