Remote Repository - Install Question

Post by Fledge »

Have Site A with a full VBR set up

Want to set a remote repository up at site B - this going to be used for a BCJ from site A to get a VEP backup chain off-site

What is the proper install process for the remote repository?

1. Is it just to go through the process to add a new repository through the site A VBR console, pointing to the site B windows host (and this will install/setup the data mover service on the site B host)

2. Or does it need some install from the VBR media, run on the site B host
(or is there some benefit to installing VBR on the remote site, even though it will only be used just for the repository function)

Don't think we'll need the WAN Accelerator feature, will test without it to start with but if 1. is the answer for the initial install, how would you subsequently add or access WAN Accelerator function for the remote site ?

Thanks

Option 1 is correct. Just follow the wizard :-)

In regards to a WAN accelerator, u need one at both sides as described in our userguide. It can run on the same server if it there are enough resources.

Thanks for the confirmation Neils

The bit I'm missing is how we'd later install a WAN accelerator on the remote site if we determine we need one (the site A install would have WAN accelerator from its full VBR install)

A WAN accelerator is installed as a service just like a repository or proxy so you can just configure the same server as the WAN accelerator (we just need the correct resources). For more info have a look here.

Hi Fledge,

Is that conflicting doc coming from us? Because in that case please let us know so we can fix it!
