Veeam Endpoint Backup

Post by FrenchPhiliP »

I'm under Creator Update.

I haven't got windows.old folder anymore so i cannot apply https://www.veeam.com/kb2057.

Automatic start is already set in services.

I've tried to uninstall and reinstall and the services still don't want to start.

Help please.

PS : The soft DOES want to install in a fresh virtual machine of creator update wich had no veeam software on it.

Hi FrenchPhilip

Welcome to the forums!

If I understand it correctly, you installed Veeam Endpoint Backup (or Veeam Agent for Windows beta?) on a Windows 10 and then upgraded that windows to the latest creator update? Is that correct?

Hello,

Yes, that's it. I was under 10 with Veeam Endpoint Backup and i upgrated to creator update.

Then i deleted windows.old folder thinking all was right without testing veeam Endpoint.

And veeam Endpoint backup doesn't want to start anymore.

Can you still start the UI (although I assume not)? If so, please log a support case and post the case ID here. If you can't open the UI, please use the other computer to log a support case ID and state in the comments that you have an issue with the other one. Then support will contact you and help you further

Thanks

My pleasure. Please post the case ID here also so we can follow also. And if there is a resolution (or not) put it here afterwards also. That will help other community members also

Thanks a lot

The solution wich worked for me given to me by Alex, engineer from support.

1. Open up RegEdit
2. Look for HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Veeam\Veeam Endpoint
3. Look for the DWORD value called ReCreateDatabase and assign to it 1(decimal)
4. Reboot your pc.
Optional
5. Run the Configure Backup wizard and if successful, run the job.

That's the beginning of the KB that i've given in my inital post but without the need of having the windows.old folder.
