VM to cluster report

Post by VIP »

Hi all,

a big software supplier is asking for some proof that certain vm's, on which their software is deployed, have allways run on the VMWare 5.5 HA cluster that was licenced for this software. Is it possible to retrieve such information from vSphere in a veeam One report ?

Some extra background info, the vCenter managing this database HA cluster also manages an Application HA cluster, and they want to be sure we are not using the application hosts to run the database vm's (apparently the customers word is not enough these days.....).

Hi Peter,
Have you checked Cluster Performance report? There is a drill-down with the list of VMs.
Another way to get the info is Custom infrastructure report, where you can configure table with VM names and Clusters they belong to.
Thanks!

Thanks for the reply.

The second option seems to be giving some info we could use, but there does not seem to be an option in this "custom" report to choose a time frame for the report, only option is a "session" which is a fixed point in time. We would like a report that shows on which hosts the vm has resided in the last year.

Yes, but if you had sessions one year ago, then it should be possible to select those. What is the oldest session time available?

Yes, I can select a session for lets say 6 months ago, but doesn't that report only show on which host the VM was at that moment ? Between that moment and the present the vm could have run on other hosts. If I want to use this as "prove" we would have to run a report for every single day.

Ok, in this case I don't have any other solutions to offer. Anyway, it looks like a good FR for our next updates.
