Customizable Billing Report

I like the billing report as-is, but I'd like to see if there is a way to run it as a custom report without some of the additional formatting, and export it as a CSV.

There is a custom backup report with such a data, but it doesn`t contain historical information.
As for backup billing, what kind of data you want to filter?

I've been asked if I could get a report that would contain the amount of data being backed up for each VM for billing. Nothing fancy is needed, just the VM name and the amount of backup data on disk from both the backup job and the backup copy. They've also asked for it to be in CSV format.

That can be fulfilled with the current report. You just need to have the backups storing on repository with per-VM option enabled, otherwise if several VM are backed up into a single file, it is impossible to value size of each VM due to deduplication.

We've got the per-VM files enabled, but the formatting is throwing off what our billing person is wanting/needing to do. If I run the report asking for one day, I'll get the one line with the VM name on it, and then a second with the amount of data stored for that night and then total. They are asking for it all on one line.

If you make a report for 1 day, the amount of data in that day will equal the total amount of data.
In a case you don`t need historical data, but just current amount(the last day), you may use mentioned Custom Backup report. The request of adding historical data into custom report is taken into account.

I agree with you on the data, and I'm getting the data that they need out of the report. The formatting of the report and getting it in a CSV file format is what I'm needing.

You may save the file in xlsx or csv format and extract the data in a way you need it.

So you can save it as CSV? I'm only seeing Excel (.xlsx), PDF, or Word.

The default export format depends on the reporting services you use. If you want to have more options in this list, you should be using Standard Plus version of SSRS(SQL Server Reporting Services).
