it would be nice if the Agent for Windows was application aware for MS Exchange.

Welcome to Veeam community and thank you for your feature request!
Veeam Agent for Windows supports application aware backups in server edition, however, clustered applications are indeed not supported. We plan to provide full support for MS Clusters in next major release.
