Is it safe to add a VM server as Microsoft server for files?

Post by rosmith42 »

I am attempting to set up a file copy to tape job, however I will need to add the Windows Server. Under Files, there are Microsoft Windows servers which you can add, however the server I wish to add is a Virtual VM server. Is it safe to add a VM (windows server) in the DNS name or IP address field? I'm not sure how it would affect our backup jobs as it states "Due to these modifications the following components will be installed or removed on the target host. Let me emphasize that this VM server and I wish to add to files using file mask exclusions only to the tape job which is from VMware vSphere.

Can this be done without issue?

Hi,

You can add VM to managed servers, this shouldn't cause any issues. Thanks!
