Veeam EndPoint Different Hardware doubt

Post by gulosito »

Hello, I have a doubt with Veeam Endpoint and recovery on different hardware.

Is it necessary to make a media recovery CD on the same machine that contains Veeam Endpoint BEFORE making a recovery process in different hardware?

Or I can create the recovery media CD in other computer once the tragedy has happened.

Thanks!!!

Carlos,

Its recommended to keep recovery media per operating system you are using. You can add required drivers while performing recovery.

Thanks for your answer.

I want to install the workstation version on 100 different computers, the problem is that I can not create 100 different CDs and save them, it's a very complicated job.

In other programs with universal restore this is not necessary.

I understand that this is advisable to make the recovery work more comfortable, but is it really necessary ?, Or can I create a single CD and then when doing a different hardware I can load the specific drivers?

You can create one Recovery Media per OS. For workstations I’d recommend to keep 4 recovery medias for every desktop OS - Windows 7, 8, 8.1 and 10

Thanks again for your speed.

I have about 50 different computer types. My question is if you need to create a CD for each machine with different hardware (to ensure recovery in different hadrware) ???

Or I can create a CD on any computer with W10/W8/W7....

My goal is to know the prerequisites for a different hardware recovery.

Hi Carlos,

What you will notice is that when you create the recovery media on one machine is that it won't have the needed drivers to do bare metal recovery for other machines. But you can easily add those additional drivers and even load then after booting. You will need to have your "set" of drivers available. See here for more information: https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/agent ... tml?ver=20

Cheer,
Mike
