VEB 1.5 retention

I have 1 remote server that I backup with VEB 1.5.0.306 to local VBR repository.
As retention I have set VEB to keep restore points for 90 days but when I look in the repository folder I see files from december 2016. Why is that?

Please open File level restore and check the dates for this restore point in the wizard (restort point step).

More likely it’s a UI bug (creation date is displayed instead of modification date) – I do remember we had it in the past and it was marked as fixed. Kindly, open a support case and let support team check the application logs.

What is your backup schedule? It looks like you are only taking backups every once and a while? The 90 days in the UI means 90 days of actual backups. So imagine you have stated 5, but you only backup weekly, you would see backups for 5 weeks (one per week)

I have set it to weekly. So with 90 days retention I should see approx. 12 backups, right? But I do see 30 with dates back to december 2016!

Especially: For retention policy settings, Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows takes into account not calendar days but days on which backup files were successfully created.

hmm... so if I understand this correct now...

on a server running 24/7 and I have set weekly backups every friday and retention to 90 days, I will end up with 90 weekly backup files?

If I want backups for 3 months back, I set retention to 12 ( 3 months x 4 weeks)?

Yes, I believe that is correct. To be sure, you might want to look at your restore points today and look at the one from 3 months back and then count the ones that are newer to get the amount needed
