Performance issue on terminal server

Post by kubimike »

Hi all, recently users have been complaining about slowness on the terminal server. I've traced the issue back to WMI using these procedures from Microsoft https://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/wmi/20 ... l-villain/

What i've found is vmtools constantly using WMI, I am using Veeamone monitor.

Code: Select all

ProviderInfo for GroupOperationId = 111; Operation = Provider::ExecQuery - select __RELPATH, InstallDate, __RELPATH from Win32_ShortcutFile where Name = "C:\\pagefile.sys"; ProviderName = CIMWin32; ProviderGuid = {d63a5850-8f16-11cf-9f47-00aa00bf345c}; Path = %systemroot%\system32\wbem\cimwin32.dll

Code: Select all

ProviderInfo for GroupOperationId = 111; Operation = Provider::ExecQuery - select __RELPATH, InstallDate, __RELPATH from Win32_PageFile where Name = "C:\\pagefile.sys"; ProviderName = CIMWin32; ProviderGuid = {d63a5850-8f16-11cf-9f47-00aa00bf345c}; Path = %systemroot%\system32\wbem\cimwin32.dll

Code: Select all

GroupOperationId = 111; OperationId = 166056; Operation = Start IWbemServices::CreateInstanceEnum - Win32_PageFileUsage; ClientMachine = KDNAP-TS2; User = NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM; ClientProcessId = 1900; NamespaceName = \\.\root\cimv2
Client processID = 1900 = VMTOOLSD.EXE

Any ideas ?

Do you mean VeeamONE Server runs directly on the terminal server ?

No, but it polls those servers and I found what you see up above.

So you say, that the Terminal Server runs on VMware without a Veeam component. Veeam ONE monitors the VMware environment from another server.

vmtoolsd.exe is the vmware tools demon. I am not aware that Veeam ONE interacts with it.
Did you had stoped all Veeam ONE services to double check that the Veeam Server is root cause.

When I google tge demon and terminal server there are several issues with CPU load issues... for example: https://communities.vmware.com/thread/290662
