Copy job migration

Post by Iain_Green »

Hi,

We have a large number of copy jobs and since the reason for these is no longer relavent, so we are looking to consildate them.
However we would like the old copy jobs to clean up them selves which regards to expired backups.

However you can't have a copy job with nothing it. Is there away around this.

Example to help explain the issue:

We have:

Old jobs
CopyJob 1 = 2 daily points + 12 monthly
CopyJob 2 = 2 daily points + 12 monthly
CopyJob 3 = 2 daily points + 12 monthly

New Job
CopyJob 1+2+3 = 2 daily + 12 monthly

Old jobs no longer have anything to copy, however they still need to run so the old monthly backups are deleted as they expire (doing this manaully would take a lot of work due to the size of the customer base).
Many thanks

You can just exclude all source objects from backup copy job 1, backup copy job 2 and backup copy job 3, and let them run this way. Running backup copy jobs even without any source objects will take care about retention. Thanks.
