Individual Alarm Exceptions

Hi,

Still new to Veeam One but some of the previous monitoring systems I have used have allowed you to set different thresholds per guest without having to create an alarm/monitor for every object.

For example a Vm with a C:(OS, 30GB) and D:(Data Drive, 1TB), 80% usage on these drives are 2 very different things so I may want to set my C drive to 70% to catch a problem sooner whereas the D Drive could be set to 90% as it still leaves me with a lot more space.
So I can set Up different alarms for each disk C,D,E.... which is fine, however, some disks may be higher than the catchall threshold but don't have much data changing. In these cases it would be good to have an exception rather than a complete exclusion however I can't seem to find a way to do this without creating a separate alert for each of this disks which could in the long run be difficult to manage.

In relation to this is there a way to set a monitor to show rapid increase in disk usage?
Example we have a C: drive with 20% usage, then for some reason log file for instance start rapidly using disk space but we won't see until it reaches the 80% threshold set.

Hi Joe and welcome to the community!
Indeed there is an option to set thresholds for individual guest disks, but there is no option to use free space trends as a condition.
However you can use datastore write rate to detect excessive write activity.

I have read through the article before but it seems to show that I have to set up a different alarm for every server and every disk.

I want to set one alarm that looks at C Drives with a threshold of 80% for example. Then say server A is 85%, server B is 90% and so on as exceptions to the main rule without having to create separate rules for each as it will be a lot of overhead

You may just add more conditions under the Rule tab and link them accordingly.
For instance you may have create such conditions:

1. Rule type: Guest disk free space
Condition: Below
Warning: XX Error: YY
Disk to monitor: C:\

---OR---
2.Rule type: Guest disk free space
Condition: Below
Warning: AA Error: BB
Disk to monitor: D:\

etc.

You may also add AND logic with write rate counters.

I was looking more for something like:

1. Rule type: Guest disk free space C: Drive
Condition: Below
Warning: 20 Error: 15
Disk to monitor: C:\
Exception if Server A
Warning: 15 Error: 10
Exception if Server B
Warning: 10 Error: 5

So one rule for C drives but with the ability to set the thresholds different on certain servers, from all i can see here i need to do a rule for each server

If you specify Disk to monitor: C:\ other disks will be excluded automatically.

I think there is a bit of misunderstanding here....
from what you are describing I will still have create an alarm for every C Drive in the environment rather than adding exceptions to one rule

If you want to set different thresholds for different VMs, you need several alarms, but if you want to set different thresholds to different Guest Disks, you need just one alarm.
