I have an offsite repository that hold monthly and yearly backups. This repositruy is part of a SOBR.
It is a DL380 (Gen 8 running windows 2012 r2) and is connected to a D6000 HP storage system.
The D6000 is configured in Raid 50 with an online spare. The Server is not conifgured to act as a proxy.
It has been decided to reclaim the DL380 and swap it with a DL360.
What is the best method for achieieng this switch?
My current plan was:
Build new DL360 with Server 2016.
Server Name and IP to be set the same as the exisiting server.
Disable all copy jobs.
Power off the old server.
Switch out old server and cable up the new server.
Power on, push out Veeam Agent.
Renable copy jobs.
Monitor.
Is this the best method?
Is this going to keep all the copy jobs safe?
Is there a better way?
Hi Iain,
the general idea is correct but name and IP are not the only information that are stored to swap a repository while preserving its volumes, there are additional information but it requires to edit our database. Your procedure would require also a rescan of the new repository, and the need to remap all the jobs, as the repository would be a new identifier. I would suggest to involve support if you want to go this route.
