HPE

Post by mappoint »

Is there a reason why the HPE StoreVirtual 3200 Storage system is not supported whereas the predecessor P4500 was supported by Veeam?
Will it be supported in the future? Will there be Fibre Channel support?

THANKS!

Hi,

The reason for not supporting this was simple - the lack of API call required for integration from the HPE side. As far as I know, this has been resolved recently, and now this storage is back on track to be supported in the future updates.

Thanks!

There are currently no plans to support HPE StoreVirtual with FC connectivity.

Is there a timeframe for 3200 support? We are just testing these units now. Thanks for any information.

Most likely, we will not be adding support for 3200 series at all.

Wow, that's a sad information.
As far as I heard SV3200 sells pretty well and HPE might release more hardware based on LeftHand OS version 13.

Bumping up.

Unfortunately, there have been multiple cases when HP Support refused to process support request for SV3200, because Veeam was present in the environment.

This is what I got:
I have analyzed logs and it seems Customer is using VEEAM which is not supported with SV3200 so this system is not applicable for any analysis at this moment.

Veeam is expecting the SLPT volume presentation model of the P4000 products and not the MLPT volume presentation model the SV3200 uses. Veeam does not list the SV3200 on their list of supported products. Please find the link to get details, https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... tml?ver=95
I don't even use Direct SAN - just backing up through vCenter.

Another example from HP forums - https://community.hpe.com/t5/StoreVirtu ... -p/6976521

HP doesn't seem to accept any arguments. Is there anything you can do to help?

SV3200 is not supported in terms of backup from storage snapshots. Other backup transports that do not require integration on API level should work, so this kind of refusals to support such environments are unfounded.
