Feature request: Disable CBT per VM in Backup Job

Post by joeljerkin »

Hi,

A feature request for future versions of Veeam Backup & Replication.

Today you can disable CBT per Backup Job but not per VM, so if you for some reason can't use CBT on a specific virtual machine you need to create a separate backup job. It would be useful to been able to disable it per VM instead, so you can have all VMs in the same backup job and not a separate one.

I don't know if this is a technical limitation to Hyper-V but if not, it would be a highly appreciated option.

Regards,
Joel

Thanks for the request. At Windows 2016 there is no need for disabling CBT by VM as there is no such situation left (SMB3 storage on non Microsoft and Hyper-V 2008 R2- 2012R2) where someone need to disable CBT.
As nearly all customers migrate over time to Windows 2016, is it OK to use some time the workaround until Migration to Windows 2016 Hyper-V Server? (Windows 2012 R2 goes end of support by Microsoft mid of next year, and running your Hypervisors without suppport....).

Mainstream support of 2012 R2 is scheduled to end 10/9/2018, but extended support is set to go until 10/20/2023. So, we can happily run 2012 R2 with support for another 5 years.
