Best way to create multiple retention?

Post by xefil »

Hello,

I need to create a backup as follow:
  • 30 days incremental retention with daily execution
  • 12 additional full backup, every first sunday of the month.
For the first point, that's easy. A backup job with daily execution and 30 days of retention.
For the second point, I'm still in doubt. How to save every first sunday of the month a FULL backup?
AFAIK I could use a backup copy job, but I'm not sure...
I'm trying to set a Backup copy job having as source target the Backup job and following settings:

Job -> Copy Every 1 Day
Virtual Machines -> source Backup Job
Target -> Repository selected (it's the same as the backup job). Restore points to keep "2". [flagged] Keep following full restore points for archival pruposes: 0 weekly, 12 Monthly (1st sunday), 0 Quarterly, 0 Yearly.
Schedule -> ANY TIME.

Are those settings correct? I would like to avoid waiting until 1st sunday and see that I'm misunderstunding something :-)

Thanks!

Simon
