How to backup AWS EC2 instances and EBS volumes.

Post by networkivan »

Hi guys,

New grad here, fresh in the working IT world.

I have been assigned a task of backing up our AWS EC2 instances and the EBS volumes.

I haven't exactly used Veeam before, but I know we use it for our regular client backups.

From a bit of googling I found that Veeam Availability for AWS is likely the solution.

However, I'm unsure on where to even begin.

Can anyone point me in the right direction on how to begin this process?

Thanks and much appreciated.

Hi and welcome to the community!

The product is not here yet, so for now you should register here and wait :) You can also use Veeam Agents to backup EC2 instances.

Thank you

correct me if im wrong, but in my opinion for now you have these three options i mentioned in another thread:

veeam-backup-replication-f2/veeam-backu ... 44853.html

You can implement the same solutions with equivalent services from AWS.

We are currently focusing on the option with a Veeam Backup & Replication Instance with Disk Storage attached (In your case EC2 + EBS)

I think what Ivan is talking about is using AWS EC2 instance as backup source, not as backup target (as is in your case). Therefore the proposed options would not work for him. Thanks.
