Veeam Backups and Application Level Encryption

Hello, I am looking at products that will encrypt SQL Server, Exchange, and Windows Files based on the FIPS 140-2 level 1 spec. Currently in Veeam I have application level backup for both SQL and Exchange. Has anyone tested a FIPS based application level encryption product and the SQL and Exchange Veeam restore process? Looking for products that have been tested in a real life scenario.

Thanks for the info, but I am looking for a product that will encrypt files, SQL, etc... and can still be recovered in Veeam.

Hi,
I think you are talking about transparent data encryption at the application level ?
i.e. Encryption of data in use and data at rest on its primary platform.

That isn't a backup product related functionality.
But it may cause your backup storage requirements to grow exponentially, as encrypted data doesn't dedupe or compress.

Encrypting data in use or at rest doesn't prevent it from been backed up.
Although it may not stay encrypted once backed up and recovered data might be unencrypted also.
