Backup Copy Questions
Good Day
We backup our branch offices to a lokal target and replicate the data with a backup copy to our headquarter. this works fine.
1. I think about configuring a periodic full 2 times a year. the replication job will replicate the full amount of data right? because it is a new full vbk file?
2. What happens if i configure a periodic compaction of the backup file. does this affect the copy job or not? (because replication works at block level, it should not replicate the whole data after compacting)?
Thanks
André

Re: Backup Copy Questions
Hello Andre,
Don`t mix replication and backup copy mechanisms. Backup simply copies changes in backups, while replication job creates replica VM.
1. Do you mean backup copy job here?
2. Backup copy job should not be affected by source full backup compact.
Thanks!

Re: Backup Copy Questions
Thanks for your reply!
yes that was unclear from my side. i mean "backup copy" for both questions, not replication.
so i guess it will copy the full data after an active full backup on the source side...?
best regards

Re: Backup Copy Questions
Thanks for clarification.
Backup copy job copies only new data blocks, so even after active full backup, backup copy will create an increment in its chain. However there is Active Full Backup Copy option if you want to start a new backup copy chain.
