Backup for Citrix NetScaler

Hi,

Got the warning for NetScaler backup.

- Guest processing skipped (check VMware Tools status)


But NetScaler not available to update VMware Tools.

Is this backup succeed ? Restore ok ?

Hi,

That means that no Guest processing was performed during the backup. That is, it was crash-consistent. The most reliable way to know if the backup is ok to restore is to use either Instant Recovery feature or SureBackup. Since NetScaler is a loadbalancer I suppose it does not heavily rely on transaction-consistency, so crash-consistent backup should be ok.

If the Guest OS of the Virtual Machine being backed up does not have VMware Tools installed, disable the following setting in the job:

Storage > Advanced > vSphere > Enable VMware tools Quiesence

My Netscalers (VPX 11.1) have VMware Tools so I have this setting enabled but leave 'Application Aware Processing disabled'.
