Help with Setup Pleasee

Post by Rizzle »

Hello

Wondering if someone could lend me a little advice on the below setup

3 x ESXi Hosts running Vmware HBA 16GB FC's to the SAN
1 x MSA 2052 SAN running above VMS (13 in total)
1 x DL160 Running Windows Storage Server 2008R2 with 12x 3TB Drives in RAID 5 Array
Each Esxi host has a teamed 3GB connection to the network and the SS 2008R2 server has 2GB teamed nics to the network aswell.

So i planned on connecting the DL160 to the SAN but i now just found out that Storage Server 2008R2 is not supported by Veeam as a backup server

New Plan is to Create a VM on one of the hosts as the Veeam server + Proxy server and add the Storage Server as a Repository.

Will this even be able to work? I see Veeam doesn't mention Storage Server anywhere in documentation. Its literally only going to be the home for the backup files.

Can someone please advise?

Thanks
Ryan

Hi Ryan, though you can install Veeam B&R on Windows Storage Server, your proposed setup will also work.
