Veeam Backup with VeraCrypt?

Post by Ghent55 »

Hi everyone,

Would Veeam Agent for Windows v2 work with a VeraCrypt encrypted system partition drive? When the PC is booted, it prompts for a password. However, once the password is entered, the files are supposed to be decrypted. Has anyone tried this before and had success with full system bare metal restore (and system would boot as normal)?

Thanks!

Hello Braxton,

Check this thread. It's related to TrueCrypt but I believe VeraCrypt should act the same way.

[MERGED] Veracrypt and Bitlocker compatibility

Post by mashme »

# 03012614

I use the Veeam Agent for Windows free and would like to backup my local internal harddrive to a shared link on a NAS.
The harddrive is encrypted with Veracrypt Vs. 1.19 (64bit) and mounted and unlocked as local harddrive D:.

Unfortunately it is not recognized by Veeam Agent for Windows.

Is this a bug?

Up to now I've never seen an app that does not recognize an mounted and unlocked veracrypt drive.
Would it be differnt if I use Bitlocker instead of Veracrypt?

Hi,

BitLocker is supported. As for Veracrypt - please see Dmitry's answer.

Thanks
