Parallel Processing

Post by steri »

Hi.

Please i need to know a good value for Parallel Processing (Proxy and Repository) for an backup server with 2x 24Core CPU and a Dell SCv2020 SAS Repository with 40x 10KSAS HDD in Balanced Mode.
The second Repository is an DR4100 and i mean for this Rep a value of 4 is a good choice.

Hi,

That depends on many factors, such as:

- the amount of jobs you want to run simultaneously
- the overall amount of virtual disks in every job (1 disk takes one slot)
- please also refer to the requirements section

Thanks

Hi.

Example:
5 Jobs with 10 VMs and 20 VMDK's per Job
The Server Roles are:
- Proxy
- Backup Server
- Repository
- Enterprise Manager
Thats it.

Any Best Practices Values for this Example ?

If you're asking about concurrent tasks limits for proxy/repository servers, then our recommendation is to configure the one for the proxy server as the number of CPU cores in it (the rule is one core = one task, where each task is a virtual disk) and for repository you can gradually increase this number to see what your storage is capable of.
