Running Veeam 9.5 essentials on non-Microsoft OS

Post by bubba198 »

Hi everyone,

I'm new to Veeam and the first thing that crosses my mind is a question: Running Veeam 9.5 essentials on non-Microsoft OS?

Is there an ESXi Linux OVA for example to run the actual product? Does it only run on Windows which means I need a server license just to run the OS on top of which Essentials 9.5 needs to run off of?

Thank you

Hello, the backup server is Windows-only indeed - but you don't need a server OS license, as we fully support client OS as well (check out System Requirements for the backup server for supported OS). Thanks!

@gostev - thanks will consider windows 10 but it is still a license that needs to be allocated to the VM. Oh well.
