Veeam StoreOnce topology

Post by claudiofolu »

Hello,
We are defining a new topology using a brand new StoreOnce as backup repository.
We have a vSphere cluster with about 100 VMs, a VM with the Proxy Role enable, a physical server with Veamm Backup Server installaed with the role of Mount Server+Gateway Server+Proxy +Tape Server, and a StoreOnce 3540 connected vía IP using Catalyst, with a private VLAN to the physical server @ 10Gb.

When we create a Backup Job and select the VM as the Proxy, it fails, since it tries to connect to the StoreOnce, but he is in another subnet.
When we select the Veeam Backup Server as the proxy (default), it finish succesfully.

What are we missing? We want to use the VM proxy to use the Applliance transport method. We thought that data flow was the Proxy communicate with the Gateway, not direct to the storeonce. Any suggestions?

Additional info:
  • Veeam B&R Enterprise edition 9.5
Catalyst store added to StoreOnce appliance.
Permission checking disabled in Catalyst options on StoreOnce.
    StoreOnce is running 3.16.x software.
StoreOnce credentials being used verified as correct.

Try to specify the backup server as a gateway for StoreOnce repository explicitly in repository settings.

Hi claudiofolu

Would be massively appreciative if you could post some real world perf statistics on the throughput you're able to achieve on backups and restores from the StoreOnce...?

Sorry for the delay,
You need a print screen? We are reaching 350MB/s over 10GBE
