Backup of single exchange databases possible?

Hi ,

ive read that often about the possibilities of restoring single exchange items...but what about the backup?

do i have to backup the full exchange server or is it possible to just backup a single db ?

I backup a single exchange DB. I placed it on its own drive and just use the normal drive excludes. The job needs the c: drive as well for FLR.

We place DBs on different drives because our retention requirements just for some emails.
