Enabling CBT after VMWARE Upgrade

Post by Ultra_VM »

Case ID 02266443

We had an issue with the version of vmware (6.0 u1) where CBT didnt work properly.
The solution was to upgrade to vmware (6.0 u3).
We have dont this and want to enable CBT in the backup jobs.

Do we just enable it and let the backup jobs continue as normal.

I had seen advice on resetting the CBT on the VMs but this would require rebooting 20-30 VMs which isnt possible as we operate 24/7.

What approach should I take to limit the impact on users and get CBT operating as it should..

Thanks...

Hi David, haven't you thought of a gradual CBT reset, for example a couple of VMs per day? Knowing nothing about the nature of the issues you've had in this regard, I'd say it would be safer to do CBT reset prior to starting using it.

Sorry but isn't there a way to do this without reboot? Thats OPs main problem is it not?

Disable CBT, take snapshot, remove snapshot, enable CBT? Something like that? Here is the PS script:
