Two USB Drives

Post by Nano »

With the free agent for linux. Can I rotate two USB drives, that mounts in the same target folder?. One at the same time connected to the server and the other in a safe location.

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

Assume that you have your USB mountpoint at /home/admin/rotate and that is your target. Once you start the job it will create a directory in "rotate" named "$hostname $JobName" and will put backup files inside. All you have to do is to switch USB drives and let the job start. In this case here is what will happen next:

If the second USB is empty:

The job will detect that the backup directory is missing and will create a new "$hostname $JobName" directory and start the backup chain anew.

If the second USB already has "$hostname $JobName" directory with backups in it:

The job will detect that there are backups in there and will continue the backup chain.

"Rinse, repeat" :)

Thanks
