Backup copy job speed to USB3

Post by MG@Metro »

I have a backup copy job which is copying from direct attach storage to a SATA hard drive in a USB 3 enclosure, all on same server.

When doing full I am getting a speed of 48 MB/s with the bottleneck being the target. I have the USB 3 enclosure set to maximum of 4 concurrent tasks as per the default.

Is that a reasonable speed to see? What are others getting speedwise to USB for backup copy jobs?

I am trying to get as much speed as possible.

I was thinking about getting a USB 3.1 card and using that.

Hi,

Is it synthetic full, or active full? If the former then it might be the disk slowing the backup down. Have you tried to copy-paste some large file to the HDD, what are the results?

Thanks

It's a backup copy job, I don't think you can do a synthetic full with these. I shall try a copy and paste.
