Backup physical Exchange is slow
Hello,
We backup our physical windows Exchange server with StoreOnce HPE (CIFS), VM Veamm Backup&Replication 9.5 update 2 and Veeam agent for windows 2.0.
It takes very long time for read and transfer the data to the StoreOnce:
1.4TB processed for 107Gb Transferred (39MB/s 12 hours) for incremential
1.4TB processed for 1TB Transferred (31MB/s 14.5 hours) for Full
Instead for FileServer the speed is 10x faster for Inrementiel and 2x for Full
Processed 2.1TB Transferrer 22Gb 412Mb/s
Processed 2.1TB Transferrer 1.4TB 57Mb/s
Maybe have you an explain about this?
Regards,

Hello bqDelubac,
To clarify, you are saying that both servers (File server and Exchange) are protected with Veeam Agent for Windows and backup jobs are pointed to the same CIFS share, is that correct? Thanks!

Yes. That is correct
EDIT: I have uncheck Throttle options in the settings part in the control panel. It seems to be more efficient, I just re-execute the backup job and it runs at 450Mb/s.
I come back next week for the full backup etc, and show how the perf grow up.

Good news - thanks for sharing (then, I assume the file server was protected with throttling option being disabled) . Let us know how it goes!

Re: Backup physical Exchange is slow
Hi,
To confirm,
The full backup is 2 times faster without Throttle option (60Mb/s, 6hours)
The incremential is around 10 times faster without Throttle option (~450mb/s, 1hour)
It seems to be a great improvement !
