Sharepoint Backup - Guest File System indexing
Hi everyone,
i am currently planning to back up our production sharepoint (2 webserver, 1 sql server) with veeam.
just thinking, if I enable the "Guest File System Indexing" for the Sharepoint Production Backup job,
will it be possible to search for Sharepoint documents without mounting the backup?
As these documents are stored in the SQL Database and not directly in the file system,
I guess the answer is : No
Correct ?
Thanks,
regards,
Philipp

Hi Philipp, you are correct, guest files indexing collects information about file system only. To be able to search for application items, you need to open backup with Veeam Explorers.

Re: Sharepoint Backup - Guest File System indexing
ok, thank you.
is it planned to make sharepoint item restore part of the enterprise manager ?
I can restore databases and exchange items, so sharepoint items is the next logical add-on to the EM ?

We had similar requests already, but I cannot any ETA for this feature. Anyway, application items restores from Enterprise Manager still work via backup mount.

what do you mean by "Anyway, application items restores from Enterprise Manager still work via backup mount."
application items = sharepoint items ?
application items = sharepoint items ?

Re: Sharepoint Backup - Guest File System indexing
Correct. That type of restore triggers the same restore mechanism used in Veeam Explorer for SharePoint, so requires backup to be mounted first.

[MERGED] SharePoint Restore with Enterprise Manager
Hello,
Hope this is the correct way to raise a Feature request.
I would like to raise the following Feature Request:
It should be possible to recover SharePoint Elements (single files, site collections, libraries) with the Enterprise Manager.
And of course, to delegate permissions for this Feature and certain SharePoint Servers.
Thank you,
Christoph
