Veeam Backup Best Practice

Post by rileybloke »

Hi guys,

I have Veeam B&R 9.5 and have created multiple Windows Server 2016 VM's from a template, but they all exist on the same VMFS6 Datastore.
I read somewhere that it is best practice is to try and span the jobs running at the same time over multiple datastores, is this correct?
If so I would have to create multiple job scheduled at different times.

Also, for the dedupe to work effectively do the VM's have to be in 1 backup job?

Thanks

Hi Phil, yes, it is typically recommended to keep VMs created from a single template in a single job for better dedupe (unless you use per-VM backup chains). Having all of them residing on a single datastore is ok, just keep an eye on the load.
