VM disk SCSI connection resets

Post by Drumcode2003 »

Hi,

I got lots of mails after vmotion moves the machines from one host to another.
Any hints for me what this means?
I don't believe that our storage runs at limit ...

thx for help.

Hello Sepp,

Do you have the same number of SCSI aborts if you look at vSphere Client|Performance tab? Have you had a chance to check out history information on all aborts via Veeam Monitor? Do you see any other datastore I/O counters maxing out while vMotion takes place?

Thanks!

I can only see that after vmotion moves the machine to another host some performance counters changed values. (e.g. virtual disc latency, disc usage, datastore latency, RAM)
There is nothing concerning SCSI abots inside tasks & events tab.
the only messages I got were: SCSI connection resets & SCSI connection failures.

Sepp, if you recieve those messages within both Veeam Monitor and vSphere Client, then you should look more closely at your datastore triggering those alarms, so you could mitigate the risk of possible hardware failures.

By the way, have you looked through our Veeam Monitor alarm KB regarding SCSI connection resets and failures?

If you're talking about vSphere Client, then you should be looking at Host -> Performance Tab -> Disk- > Realtime counters

Did you ever find a solution to this? I am also seeing these messages within Veeam Monitor when performing a vMotion.
Also see "VM generic warning" on various VMs while performing a vMotion.

Calvin, could you please tell me how many SCSI connection resets you have in the vSphere Client performance tab?

As regards the VM generic warning message, then please take a look at existing topic and continue posting there if needed: VM generic
