VeeamDCS.exe Service...memory Hungry ?

Post by StevenMeier »

Hi All,

Some help and guidance would be appreciated.

Running Veeamone on a dedicated Server With Sql Installed locally (full SQL Server)

The VeeamDCS.exe Service seems to be blowing out and eventually Hanging. (1.4 to 1.5 GBs of RAM)

We stop and restart the Service and it comes right.

We have turned off AV to check this and , has made no difference.

As the simple stop and start of the Service fixes the issue I am more convinced its this Service only causing the issue.

The version is VeeamOne 9.0
version 9.0.0.2088

Any assistance is greatly appreciated

How many hosts/VM's are you monitoring? How much CPU and memory did you assign to the Veeam One server as well as the SQL server?

In addition to Niels question can you please tell us if you monitor Veeam B&R infrastructure or not?

Server has 12 GB of ram

2 vcpu's

We use Veeam Enterprise manager to manage backup and replication (not on this Server as server is dedicated to VeeamOne)

Monitoring 54 hosts and 506 VM's

Given the infrastructure you're monitoring the size of this server (CPU/RAM) should be fine, as well as the overall resource usage. If you believe there is a memory leak in VeeamDCS, then I would suggest to open a support case and let our team take a look at the dump logs.

I did log a support call and support have asked us to apply update 1 to veeam One which we have done.

we are monitoring.

Over the last day since doing the VeeamDCS.exe is still using a lot of ram....but the Server at this early stage feels more "stable"

Obviously this is still early so will keep an eye on it and see how it goes.

I know this is an old thread but my update pertains to this.

The Data Collector service was also using a lot of memory (pretty much all of the memory I was giving the server). My server footprint wasn't that large (almost 400VMs, 15 HyperV Hosts, 6 Clusters) and I kept having to increase the memory of the server running Veeam One (started at 6GB, 8GB, 10GB, 16GB). The only fix was to restart the service every couple of days or just ignore it :-)

Finally got around to making a Veeam support ticket after making the server "live". Short answer, support gave me a new executable and dlls and now a couple of days later and memory consumption is still under 1GB!!!!!!

Not sure if I can post the files here but I'm can at least put my case number if any of you want to try to reference that with support and get those files. I've asked if this fix will be in Update 2 of Veeam One but support tech was not able to confirm it.

Case # 02376866

Veeam One server is FINALLY usable :-)

THe veeamone seems to be far more stable the usage is consistant and stays well within normal bounds.

SO update 1 definitely assisted

Hello, good to know the fix helped.
Veeam ONE v9.5 u2 (which will be called u3 to fit Availability Suite) will include all fixes, so it definitely makes sense to apply it.
