Edit tape library properties after adding to VBR

Post by Vejete »

After adding a tape library like an MSL 8096 to Veeam, is it possible to go back and edit the library properties in Veeam to remove half the drives and half the slots? I have a situation where two different backup apps need to share one library, and you cannot partition an MSL 8096. My proposal is to make each backup app aware of only half the library's drive and slot resources.

For Example:
Backup app 1 only knows about drives 1 & 2 and slots 1-48
Backup app 2 only knows about drives 3 & 4 and slots 49-96

The robot would be shared between the two apps which should be fine because it queues all incoming commands and works them off first come, first served.

Hi Jim,

As far as i know this isnt` possible, Veeam will only see the whole device and i see no properties to set what you ask. I will stand corrected if this isnt the case.

Thanks

Hi, Jim, this is not possible, indeed, unless the tape device supports partitioning. Thanks.
