We are running Veeam 9.0 (1715) at 18 sites. We would like to turn on encryption. Since we have seeded all our backups to a remote data center (internal – not service provider), is it possible to start the encryption chain without doing a new seed for each site? We understand that only ‘new’ backups would be encrypted, but at what point (if any) would the full backup file be encrypted?
Thanks!
Tom

Re: Encryption turned on to existing backup chain
"If you enable encryption for an existing job, during the next job session Veeam Backup & Replication will create a full backup file. The created full backup file and subsequent incremental backup files in the backup chain will be encrypted with the specified password."
"Veeam Backup & Replication encrypts data blocks on the backup proxy, either the dedicated or default one, and transfers them to the backup repository already encrypted."
enabling encryption in an existing is the same as creating a new full backup, the encryption happens at the proxy.
