Replication volume by synthetic full with WAN Accelerator

Post by Timo_Bienert »

Hi,

i do not find this information, so maybe someone has this productive.

this is the situations:
i have an remote location connectet with 10 Mbit.
In th remote location I have an virtual Veeam server and an Storege vor the Backups.
The backup is configurt with an forward incremtal forever with 14 day retention an 1 synthetic full.
So after 14 days on every backup session veeam will update the synthetic full.

I will now replicate this backup to the main location, with backup Copy job and Wan Accelerator.

so lets suspect that the daile change rate from the backup is 20GB and the full is 800 GB.
so i have 20 GB in the new Incremental and 20 GB of changed data in the Syntetic full.

so how many logical data will the copy job transfer?

40 GB (20GB new inc + 20GB changes in the full)
or 840 GB (the 20GB from the new inc and 800GB from the full)?

regards

Timo

Hi Timo, backup copy job always copies just the blocks changed since its previous run (those that are required to build the new restore point corresponding to the latest VM state available on source).
