Randomize backup jobs

Post by holden205 »

I have about 380 laptops using the Windows Agent 2.1 and managed by B&R backup server. They are included in a protection group which is the target of a backup job. It is an enormous load on the network to have a large percentage of the devices to kick off a backup at the same time. Is there any means to randomize or offset the devices from the scheduled start time?

Hello Jeff,
Do you mean delay backup for some VMs to avoid traffic congestion?
As a workaround I would try to split the job and schedule newly created jobs accordingly.
Thanks!

You can limit maximum concurrent task number on target repository, so that, only specified set of machines will be processed in parallel. Otherwise, if network congestion is your concern, think about applying network throttling rules. Thanks.
