The VAW documentation describes the TCP/IP ports used by VAW when sending the backup to a Veeam repository.
It uses 10001/tcp to talk to the Veeam server and a port in the range 2500/tcp to 5000/tcp to transfer data to an Windows repository.
These ports show up in our firewall log.
The docs also state that Windows RPC ports 49152-65535 are used as well, I allowed those ports in our firewall but they don't show up in the log.
Does anybody know when and for what MS-RPC might be used by VAW?
Thanks and regards
Axel

Re: TCP Ports used by VAW
Hello Axel,
True. Some ports from this range might be used during backup. Since the port selection is dynamic it’s required to keep the whole range opened.

Re: TCP Ports used by VAW
Thanks Dima for the information.
Our firewall is aware of DCE-RPC services, all of them are allowed, I hope that will fit if one of those services is used by VAW.
Best regards
Axel
