Backup Failed (failed to create snapshot)

Post by pleibling »

Hello,

i'm new in Veeam Agent for Linux and not an specialist for Linux.

I have an Problem with Backup - it failes with an Error "failed to create snapshot" in the Log.

My System is an Debian 8 on VMWare 6.5, open-vm-tools are installed.

I append the Log at the bottom - it seems to be a problem with the Snapshot. For this i removed veeam (apt-get remove veeam*) and install it new (apt-get install veeam*).

This is the installation log:

kernel source for this kernel does not seem to be installed.
veeam (2.0.0.400) wird eingerichtet ...
veeam-release-deb (1.0.1) wird eingerichtet ...
After installation i check with lsmod | grep 'veeam' - but it founds nothing.

Did i have to install the veeamsnap Module manually? If yes, how i can do it?

This is the Backup Log:

Re: Backup Failed (failed to create snapshot)

Post by nielsengelen »

Hi, you are missing the kernel headers and therefor veeamsnap isn't installed/loaded. You should install these first via "apt-get install linux-headers-$(uname -r)" and afterwards re-install the veeam packages.
