i have a report from veeam show as attached
but my question is why in a part of that report show start time =05:00:01 End time = 07:49:47
and in the end of pic show Start time = 05:00:49 End time = 07:02:52
The time at the bottom is the length of time it took to back up that server only. The time at the top takes into account additional processing done after the server has completed.
No. The numbers next to the VM are how long the VM itself took to process. The number at the top is the total job duration.
It's confusing right now because there's just one VM it seems.
If you had two VMs in the job, you would see that the Duration at the top would be at least as long as it took to process both of the VMs + the work that the job has to do before and after processing the VMs.
Think of it like this.
Job starts and takes 2 minutes to get the VMs and replicas ready.
VM 1 starts and takes 30 minutes to transfer and process
VM 2 starts after VM1 and takes 30 minutes to transfer and process
Then the job needs another 2 minutes to finish up and do some tidy-work (retention, etc)
Both VMs would should a duration of 30 minutes each. But the total job duration (what you see at the top) would be 64 minutes. (2 minute prep, 30 minutes per VM, 2 minute tidy-work).
Overall replica job duration = Time to replicate particular VM + Time to do additional processing. Therefore, the provided metrics do not coincide. Thanks.
thanks
but my job include just one task it will do just replication for 1 vm now in this mode when just have one vm and one task
what does mean overall and individual ?
There are some pre-processing tasks that are performed prior to the actual replication starts and take some time - such as building VM list, assignment of resources, etc., as well as post-processing tasks, like applying of retention and others. Please check job session log for details.
1. It depends on the particular environment. You could check what specific task is taking most of the time by opening the job session log and selecting the VM in the list to the left.
2. Backup too.
